Altitude 360, Millbank Tower

As I’m trying to squeeze as much of London as I can before I go, my friend and I went on a very romantic date to Altitude 360, Millbank Tower for a cheese and wine tasting. We got to sample Chile’s finest wines, both red and white and learnt how to utilise all five of our tastebud’s taste perceptions (salty, sour, bitter, sweet and umami or savoury) so that we could fully appreciate the effort and love that goes into making wine. It was one of the most beautiful afternoon’s I’ve had, slurping our delicious wine looking out on to the incredible view that is London, followed by a lovely summer's stroll along the Thames .

Wicked

Firstly, I feel like I need to apologise for the lack of posts this week, basically I’ve been sorting my life out and preparing myself to leave London and go off travelling around Europe for two months, before returning home to Australia in July. Whilst, I am excited about travelling I have to say that I’m devastated that I have to leave London, which has been my home for the last two years. Although I will be posting so much more about London and my time here in the next few days, I want to share with you what I’ve been doing this week starting with going to the theatre to see Wicked. Now, I have to admit that I didn't really do much research into the plot but anything that involves incorporating the Wizard of Oz into the theme I knew would be a winner. I also have to say, Rachel Tucker who plays Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West, has the most amazing voice I think I've ever heard (big call, I know). When she sang Defying Gravity it gave me goosebumps. Simply magical.

When Erik Met Mary

Have you ever come across an editorial that just inspires you so much that you just want everyone to know about it? I have. Just now. This editorial photographed by Erik Madigan Heck for A Magazine showcases Mary Katrantzou’s awe-inspiring, genuinely jaw dropping creations from her Fall collection. I didn’t think that it was possible to make Katrantzou’s dramatic silhouettes more beautiful but Heck’s exquisite interpretation has; simultaneously blurring the lines between photography and fine art. Truly stunning.

Outfit Post : Newquay Day 2

Day two, saw me go a little more summery as it was bordering on “warm” while we ate our delicious breakfast at CafĂ© Irie. I wore my H&M high-waisted jeans, topshop mid-length black vest (singlet) and another of my long-line waistcoats but this time in a white and caramel crochet. I also had my camel coat for when the sun disappeared behind the clouds.

In My Wardrobe : Waistcoat Collection

On the weekend, I began to clear out my wardrobe in preparation for my upcoming move and realised just how many waistcoats I have in my possession. I have in total, four long-line waistcoats all varying in fabric (including leather, crochet, suede and cotton) and three cropped waistcoats; one waterfall front, an open knit with pearl detailing and a leather hooded bomber. I love that you can throw one of them on and it instantly updates your wardrobe in which you can either juxtapose a girly, flowy dress with the cropped leather bomber or go for a more whimsical approach with either the crochet long-line or the open knit with pearl detailing, depending on my mood. I was so close to throwing out my black waistcoat (pictured far right) until I came across a picture of MK Olsen wearing something really similar and fell in love. So, I’ve decided to do little DIY (which is something that I rarely do). I love that her blazer has the extra black fabric detailing that flows from the bottom, it’s such a simple and easy solution that will bring my waistcoat back from the dead.

Outfit Post : Newquay Day 1

Even though the sun was shining in Newquay, it was still a rather windy day - which is a given in a seaside town, so my outfit had to still be practical. Day one saw me in a soft peach blouse from H&M, a vintage gold lurex jumper, a dark blue, mini A-line skirt, my Topshop camel coat (which is such a great transitional piece) and my tan Mimco bag with black H&M booties.

In My Wardrobe : Crochet Love

I’ve wanted to write this for a while now… I have a massive “thing” for crochet. There, I’ve said it. My relapse in this trend stems from a dress that I bought months and months ago which looking back now, provided a certain wistful escapism from the long, dark winter. So, obviously I’ve been dying to wear it ever since. The best thing about this dress is that it is multi-functional, I’ve worn it out on a night out, I’ve worn it during the day and I find that I’m already starting to visualise myself wearing it as a kaftan on the beaches of Spain and Portugal later this year. As I’ve mentioned time and time again, I’m obsessed with the 70s and wearing anything remotely crochet gives me that sense of carefree and “I’m not trying too hard” vibe that epitomises this era, making it a necessity in every girl’s wardrobe.

Some pieces from my current crochet collection include my white, mid length (£5 thrifted) dress, a white and caramel waistcoat (which goes perfectly with cut-off denim shorts), a mid length top from H&M and a vintage waist-coat with pearl detailing.

One thing that I really love to see is that I’m not the only one crushing on crochet. I’ve seen crochet pieces in quite a few editorials and lookbooks of late. PS How amaze are those H&M white crochet shorts? I need them!
