Thrifting Adventures in Spain #3

I spoke about the best €4 I’ve spent ever here, now I need to introduce you to the best 3 I’ve ever spent - my fringed Navajo bag. I love everything about this bag, the colour, the fringing and it’s big enough to store all my goodies. Here I’ve worn it with an aqua vest (singlet) from H&M and vintage high waisted shorts. Also, don’t you love the backdrop? Barcelona is a hub for the graffiti and street art scene where you will find huge, colourful characters, scenes, and messages on the most unsuspecting walls or storefronts.

Thrifting Adventures in Spain #2

Probably the best 4 I’ve spent, ever. This is why I love thrifting so much, you can find some absolute incredible things for a steal. I spotted this mid-length pastel printed skirt tucked away from view and I knew it had to be mine. Here I’ve worn it with a white, cropped Topshop vest (singlet), brown belt and the perfect accessory - a frozen yogurt topped with strawberries and nuts – yum yum.

Valencia, Spain

Valencia is one place that I’ve been dying to visit for the last two years, and I’m so glad I did. From the beautiful building facades, the fabulous Estación Del Norte (probably the most incredible train station I have seen) and you cannot go past the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences complex.

Here I'm wearing my favourite coral blouse that I bought in Newquay. I've paired it with nudie cut-off short shorts that I made from jeans that I don't wear anymore.

Holiday Outfit Post #1, Alicante

I’m not sure what your “packing for holiday” routine is like but mine goes a little something like this.

   1.  Completely remove all items of clothing from wardrobe.
   2.  Take out items that are not weather appropriate.
   3.  Begin to try on every piece of clothing.
   4.  Start packing my carefully created outfits into my suitcase.

Obviously step three takes several hours (much to the joy of the boyf) and is usually the reason why I’m packing right up to the eleventh hour. What is interesting though; as soon as I touchdown in said destination, my carefully crafted outfits fly right out the window and I’m usually looking for the easiest and most comfortable items in the form of shorts, maxis and basic tees and vests (singlets).

One of the outfits I have worn of late is my black Topshop vest (singlet) worn with my Americana inspired short shorts, again from Topshop and of course we can’t forget my trusty black havianas (call them flip flops if you like, but I’m from Australia, so for me, these are thongs). The backdrop is the stunning scenery from atop Alicante’s incredible castle, Santa Barbara which is set right on the beach overlooking the Med.

Thrifting Adventures in Spain #1

Firstly, I must apologise for the lack of blog posts. The last few weeks have been quite hectic and considering I haven’t been in one city or town in Spain for longer than three nights, it’s quite hard to find a quiet moment. Which is why I’ve decided to spend a few nights in Sitges in the Costa Blanca and catch up on some much-needed blogging.

Before I left Barcelona today, I happened to stumble upon the most unassuming thrift store and had, the most successful day thrifting, to date. I have been searching high and low to find any kind of thrift or charity store in Spain since my adventure started three weeks ago with no luck, however, I must say that today was certainly worth the wait.

Today I came across a cream mid length dress with embroidered top and a pleated skirt, and I am in love. Ever since I saw Kate Hudson in that blue Emilio Pucci mini, I have been lusting for a bohemian embroidered dress and today was my lucky day. Here I’ve worn it with a tan high-waisted belt and Tophop flats. I will be posting my other buys soon!

Altitude 360, Millbank Tower

As I’m trying to squeeze as much of London as I can before I go, my friend and I went on a very romantic date to Altitude 360, Millbank Tower for a cheese and wine tasting. We got to sample Chile’s finest wines, both red and white and learnt how to utilise all five of our tastebud’s taste perceptions (salty, sour, bitter, sweet and umami or savoury) so that we could fully appreciate the effort and love that goes into making wine. It was one of the most beautiful afternoon’s I’ve had, slurping our delicious wine looking out on to the incredible view that is London, followed by a lovely summer's stroll along the Thames .

Wicked

Firstly, I feel like I need to apologise for the lack of posts this week, basically I’ve been sorting my life out and preparing myself to leave London and go off travelling around Europe for two months, before returning home to Australia in July. Whilst, I am excited about travelling I have to say that I’m devastated that I have to leave London, which has been my home for the last two years. Although I will be posting so much more about London and my time here in the next few days, I want to share with you what I’ve been doing this week starting with going to the theatre to see Wicked. Now, I have to admit that I didn't really do much research into the plot but anything that involves incorporating the Wizard of Oz into the theme I knew would be a winner. I also have to say, Rachel Tucker who plays Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West, has the most amazing voice I think I've ever heard (big call, I know). When she sang Defying Gravity it gave me goosebumps. Simply magical.

Outfit : White 70s pleated palazzo trousers, black mid-length top from Topshop a vintage black leather jacket and tan mimco bag.

Outfit Post : Newquay Day 2

Day two, saw me go a little more summery as it was bordering on “warm” while we ate our delicious breakfast at Café Irie. I wore my H&M high-waisted jeans, topshop mid-length black vest (singlet) and another of my long-line waistcoats but this time in a white and caramel crochet. I also had my camel coat for when the sun disappeared behind the clouds.

Outfit Post : Newquay Day 1

Even though the sun was shining in Newquay, it was still a rather windy day - which is a given in a seaside town, so my outfit had to still be practical. Day one saw me in a soft peach blouse from H&M, a vintage gold lurex jumper, a dark blue, mini A-line skirt, my Topshop camel coat (which is such a great transitional piece) and my tan Mimco bag with black H&M booties.

Outfit Post : Madrid Day 3

Since I first bought my pleated white, wide-leg trousers, 6 weeks ago in a sample sale, I’ve been dying to wear them. But of course, I was waiting for the opportune moment to present itself – hello, Madrid. For weeks I was racking my brain deciding on what to wear on top given that the trousers are a statement within themselves. So I decided to go a little low key and team it up with an aqua vest (or singlet) from H&M. I find so much inspiration from the 70s and as soon as I saw these babies I just knew I had to have them. At first, I thought that I was buying a maxi skirt until I got home and tried them on and realised that they were actually trousers. Amaze! Move over Charlie Sheen, there's a new winner in town.
