NYFW SS12 : 3.1 Phillip Lim
Phillip
Lim’s SS12 collection is an absolute standout for me. I’m so inspired by the
minimalistic approach, sewn from rectangular panels in an oh so sweet
candyfloss pallet. This delectable delight ticks all the boxes, the slouchy but
elegant silk trousers, the cleaver layering, where each and every look
is undeniably covetable. Lim's entire collection is leaving me feeling… quite
refreshed actually.

Sydney, Australia
A new
city. Some great company. And one beautiful weekend.
A couple
of weekends ago, my mum and dad came to visit me and the boyf in Sydney and we
had the best weekend together. From king sized beds and spectacular views to
ferry rides to the North Shore, it
was one of the nicest weekends I’ve had in a long time. Living so far away from home, in London, I really missed my family and living so close to them was something
that I used to take for granted. Skype's great, but it ain't got nothing on the real thing!
Here are a few pictures I took on the Ferry ride to Manly, which is definitely the best way to see the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

100 Years of Fashion
Awwwwww!!
I just love this video celebrating 100 years of Fashion. And the icing on the cake for me is that it’s shot on location in my old hood, East London. This
video really brings to light how much fun past generations have had experimenting
with fashion and what I would have really liked to see is a true reflection of
how fashion is trending right now. I really don’t think a blazer; some jeans
and pumps really showcase what we’re all about. Am I right?

NYFW SS12 : Zac Posen
Well, it looks
as though New York’s prodigal son has made his return. Famously, the designer left
his hometown in favour for La
Ville-Lumière, declaring that he would be better received in Paris although, that
turned out not to be the case. But the story does have a happy ending. This
collection is one of the best I’ve seen from Posen. With a focus on cut and
fit, the waist accents and beautiful dresses with flaring, knee-length hems
screams drama and old Hollywood glamour. And if you’re not into corsets, well
this simply isn’t for you. It seems as though someone’s found their
mojo!

Strawberry Fields Forever
When I
was back in Brisbane, about a month ago (sorry, I’m backtracking here – but better
late then never) I spent a lovely morning with the mum and boyf at Rolin
Strawberry Farm just north of Brisbane. Here we met Farmer Bruce who educated
us about the perfect way to pick a strawberry, dribbled over the fresh,
farm-made strawberry ice-cream and chocolate dipped strawberries and of course
picked up punnets and punnets of fresh strawberries which we pretty much got
stuck into in the car on the way home. It was such a lovely outing for which
you don’t have to dedicate all day to and is a great, quirky idea for anyone
looking for “something different” to do.

Office Inspiration
For those
that work in an office, you might want to look away. The Covetuer goes inside
the incredibly beautiful and oh so inspiring offices of Who What Wear. I love the fresh, clean lines and the nail polish vase is such a lovely personal touch, definitely going to try this one at home.

NYFW SS12 : Mara Hoffman
Every NY
Fashion Week I always seem to find myself raving about Mara Hoffman and SS12 is
no different. Aptly named “Mara Mexicana” this collection certainly brought the
fiesta, with eye popping Aztec prints in oranges and blues to sheer crepe
tunics. And I couldn’t go past the accessories! Hoffman collaborated with Holst
and Lee to inject statement rope necklaces and cloth earrings using the fabric
of the collection. Lush.

NY Fashion Week SS12 Street Style
The last
two weeks have been hellish. With NY Fashion Week been and gone and London
Fashion Week in full swing, now is definitely not the time for me to not have the Internet in my new apartment.
But as with everything, these things take time. So thankfully (and just in the
nick of time) I’m now back online and ready to go!
So first
up, and most fittingly, here are my fave street-style photos from NYFW shot by Nam from StreetFSN.
