Givenchy Fall 2011 Couture

Wowzas! There is only one word to describe Riccardo Tisci’s collection for Givenchy Fall 2011 haute couture, and that is exquisite. A collection of ivory gowns of romantic lace, metallic fringes, airy feathers and silk tulle show-off the extraordinarily delicate craftsmanship that has gone into every single piece. This is a modern day take on what angels would have in their wardrobes. Drool.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

After 9 hours on an overnight ferry from Italy, we made it into Dubrovnik, just in time to watch the beautiful sunrise over the mountains. I’ve heard that Dubrovnik is incredible but I must say, it is something so, so special and I won’t ever forget my time there. Not only is the town absolutely picturesque, the food is delightful and the locals are the friendliest in all of Europe. We went kayaking to Lokrum, an island off Dubrovnik, and discovered so many amazing places to go snorkelling. We also went hiking along the coastline where the remnants of war are still visible with the likes of “lookout towers” and bunkers and the views are out of this world. Dubrovnik is seriously underrated and certainly deserves its title of “pearl of the Adriatic”. I can’t wait to go back!

H&M and Versace

H&M and Versace. That’s right people, H&M and Versace in the same sentence. H&M are launching a collaboration with this iconic brand encompassing around 40 pieces for women, 20 for men and a selection of homeware and because it’s launching right in the thick of party season (get your diaries, November 17) it is said that the collection will be dominated by gold studded leather dresses, colourful silk and print dresses, high heels (obvs) and costume jewellery. And best part is, this collection will be followed up by a pre-spring available online from January 19.

Vintage Stores in Rome

Abiti Usati Vintage is exactly how I like my vintage stores - packed to the brim with beautiful fur coats, sequin dresses, fedoras, shoes and designer bags. Oh, and if you’re looking for a pair of Converse you’ve come to the right place. Situated on Via del Governo Vecchio, it is a little tricky to find but once you’re there you will be tempted to stay for hours and try on every piece. They even have a really good selection of men’s jackets in the form of Barbour, denim and military to keep the boyf well entertained while you choose the perfect ensemble.

Just a little down the road from Abiti Usati is Vestiti Usati Cinzia or “Cinzia”, a little boutique-style vintage store – something I’m not really keen on – but nonetheless has really beautiful and lust-worthy pieces. Most of which are too beautiful to sell, unfortunately. I saw the most amazing pair of crochet bikinis (although a little too risqué for my taste) a sequin brassiere (which my lovely friend back in London would go nuts for) and a stunning crochet sun-hat with flower appliqué which I instantly fell in love with – it truly spoke to the inner hippie in me, until I realised that it wasn’t for sale. Cinzia is not exactly how I like my vintage but is certainly well worth the visit.
