Trend Forecast : Collar Necklaces

Yay! Finally something I’m excited about. Collar Necklaces – need I say more? I am a major fan of Peter Pan and Tuxedo collars but these luxurious and detachable necklaces are oh so beautiful. Seen on runways for Louis Vuitton and Chanel, I’m positive that these babies will be a must-have item for your wardrobe.

Karen Walker Resort 2012

Is it me or is everyone talking about Karen Walker’s shades from her Resort 2012 Collection? I’m loving the fluoro bright frames with contrasting lens and the simple 30s inspired retro frames.

Mara Hoffman Resort 2012

Now that I’m back in wintery Australia, I still tend to find myself daydreaming about my 10-week holiday in Europe, sipping on cocktails and going to the beach every day. And Mara Hoffman’s Egyptian take on swimwear is definitely not helping my nostalgia. Being a bikini junkie (I need at least 2 new pairs every season) I am so inspired by her Aztec-print adaptation of the bikini and colourful geometric prints.

Head to Toe Prints

Based not only on the AW11 runway but also Resort 2012, it looks like a massive trend heading our way is Head to Toe Prints – and the louder the better. Taking a page out of Mary Katrantzou’s book, many designers in their Resort collections have looked to digital-prints (“digi-prints”) as their inspiration. I am someone who tends to shy away from prints and for that matter, colour, in winter however, I’m finding myself so inspired by the likes of Givenchy and Gucci and as I mentioned in a previous post, Celine’s eccentric adaptation of the all over print.

Celine Resort 2012

In my eyes, Celine can do no wrong. Phoebe Philo’s accessories, particularly her bags and shoes, have become the most covetable items in season’s past, and it looks as though Resort 2012 is heading down the same path. I love the slouchy cut of her menswear trousers in bold colours of electric blue and pink, all-over florals and her sheer lady-like silhouettes.

It’s Resort Collection time and I am loving Lanvin’s softly draped dresses, fringing and jumpsuits. And the children’s wear is just so adorable.
